What is Sunbridge?

Sunbridge Low Cost Counseling Service is designed to supplement the counseling services that currently exist in the community. Sunbridge matches people in need with volunteer mental health professionals from the community.

The Sunbridge Program provides quality and timely counseling services to individuals who are otherwise unable to access treatment due to the lack of resources including health insurance and adequate income. The program is also able to provide immediate response to area emergencies with professionals trained in trauma and grief counseling.

The Sunbridge Program began in 1991 and has provided free or low-cost counseling to individuals and families who otherwise have had no access to these services. Churches are the only other agencies that offer counseling at no charge, however not every individual identifies with a faith based counseling approach. Our Sunbridge therapists have also provided counseling services to those affected by the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Building as well as evacuees from hurricanes Katrina and Rita who settled in central Oklahoma.

The Sunbridge Program matches those in need with licensed mental health professionals from the community. These therapists provide individual therapy, family therapy, marital counseling, parental consultation as well as psychological testing and evaluation.

These licensed therapists from a variety of disciplines donate their time to the Sunbridge Program in order to meet local counseling needs. The clients are screened over the phone or in-person to determine the appropriateness of services. Our Sunbridge Case Manager provides case management support and matches the client with one of the participating Sunbridge therapists specializing in that client's area of need or to the first available therapist in the program depending on the urgency of care needed.
